At least four newborn babies have been abandoned by their mothers in the state in just the last 14 months. All of the infants have died. Barbara Beavers, director of Jackson's Crisis Pregnancy Center, said a lack of positive support for young girls who are pregnant along with legalized abortion on demand have contributed to the increase in abandoned babies.
"My thoughts are that legalized abortion has just cheapened life," Beavers said. "Parents drag their 12- and 13-year-old daughters to have abortions, and we've basically told them that ending life is the thing to do."
