A poll released on June 18, 2000 by the Los Angeles Times newspaper shows that people, when told Gov. George W. Bush is opposed to abortion, 27% said that would make them more likely to vote for him. Those who would vote for Vice President Gore because he is in favor of legalized abortion amounted to only 18%.
It looks like Bush's position on the issue will bring him more votes than it will cost him.
